  • One thing I notice, like right in the first clip - and I see this all the time; if someone is cutting in front of you right to left, you should go right to avoid them - not meet them in the left, and vice versa. Like all the videos of cars making blind left turns in front of straight traffic - a lot of them would be avoided by swerving left, not right. It's almost like you want to be in an accident. I get it's just the instant reaction, an instinct that might be hard to overcome, but a lot of these accidents would be near misses if people could get themselves to do that.

  • 0:48. People always misunderstand dual lane rotary exits. Even though there are two lanes, you can only access the road from the right lane and THEN split off. So the camera was wrong and the Jeep had every right to proceed in the outside lane and continue driving.

  • 6:10 the white sedan had plenty of room to cross even with the speeding traffic. The van had plenty of time to stop in any case and was more than 3 seconds behind the impactor car. This was done on purpose by two idiots against someone in a white sedan whom of which was probably blamed.

Hawaii is a no fault state so there are no traffic citations for accidents but in nearly all cases drivers causing an accident while changing lanes will nearly always be found at fault and have to pay for all damages.

    CaressaCaressaIl y a 2 mois
    • The Jeep was in the wrong. The Jeep changed lanes which you aren't supposed to do in a roundabout after you've crossed the initial yield threshold. Go back and look closely, the cammer didn't "go right," he went straight, which he was okay to do. The Jeep was going straight, then suddenly went left from the right lane.

  • 8:40 why can't you sue for damages in civil court? He caused damage to your car, so he should be liable for the repairs. Shame about the Sedan DeVille, though... Why would he do that? Other than idiocy, that is. And if there were toddlers in your car, you MIGHT be able to press charges for Endangerment of a Minor, a federal crime.

    Henry RodgersHenry RodgersIl y a 2 mois
    • I think one reason that the cammer can’t sue in civil court is because he was technically illegally overtaking the sedan. The sedan never fully left the left hand lane which means that he still has the right of way in regards to that lane. The cammer shouldn’t have tried to pass until the sedan was fully out of the left hand lane.

  • 8:38 This is why I ask why people call a car collision an accident. An accident is when you miss the nail and hammer your thumb. I know people who were accidents. When a vehicle hits something, it's called a collision. What on Earth is an "accident on purpose"? Was it done accidentally or on purpose/intentionally? Driver: "Hello, 911? I just got into an accident." 911: "You mean a collision?" Driver: "No, an accident." 911: "Well, it looks like you have three choices here. You can either keep and raise it yourself, put it up for adoption, or abort it."

    • Most dashcams save their videos to an SD card. It's pretty trivial to find an SD card reader that plugs into your USB port if your computer doesn't have an SD card slot. After that, you can upload the whole video. The person compiling the clips can pull what they want out of it.

  • Evenin’ all, Having watched many, many, many of these videos on FRlift, many times I have SMH and wondered ‘How could that happen? Perfect visibility, smooth, lovely tarmac, visibility is like that song by The Who ‘ I can see for miles…’ How can they collide with another vehicle…? There’s is *sooo* much space!’ And then I started to think, maybe.. it is the space that is the problem….? Maybe with all the space available people don’t pay attention like they would if vehicles were bumper to bumper all the time? It doesn’t help that US vehicles are big, heavy and the suspension is soft, so in an incident they lose control and can easily roll. Also, automatic transmissions don’t disengage in a crash so vehicles keep on driving….but I think the wide smooth roads and distances people drive lull people into a false sense of security. Plus the following 3 solutions would help enormously in many cases (IMHO): 1) Lane discipline. What does this mean? It means no sitting in the outside or middle lanes, along with no undertaking. You only overtake on the left hand side. It is not safe to have ‘Wacky Races’ with people under- and overtaking, then meeting in the middle lane and spinning out because each vehicle is in the others blind spot… do not go and drive in Germany, where the No.1 thing that is verboten is to undertake….if you do go to Germany you will learn about lane discipline, indicating correctly, long distance observation skills etc. (Just don’t run out of fuel on the autobahn: it is illegal to do so….) 2) A red light means stop: green light means go, so no turning right on red. You can’t have traffic on green having to deal with joining traffic on a red light. Also, you could have at a 4 way intersection with traffic lights, only 1 set of lights is on green at any one time, avoiding opposing traffic streams turning across each other. 3) Roundabouts. Put a roundabout in place of an intersection and all the incidents of people barreling through on a red light would be eliminated. You can have traffic lights on entry to a roundabout or on the roundabout itself, to help traffic know when they can go/stop. At a stroke road accidents would be decreased dramatically. Anyway, just some of my thoughts on the subject. Only trying to help….;-)
